Next.js & Headless CMS Websites
Boutique web studio building websites on Next.js with a headless CMS (TinaCMS, Prismic). Fast page loads at the edge, visual editing and full control of running costs.
For marketing campaigns, product landing pages and modern company websites, what matters most is delivery speed, instant page loads and low running costs. Without a heavy CMS or a complicated server, Next.js with a headless CMS strikes a good balance: a proper React frontend, a visual editing interface for the marketing team and smooth delivery from the edge, with no monthly upkeep cost.
Technical advantages of Next.js
Next.js combines modern React with flexible rendering (server-side rendering and static generation). The whole frontend, the SEO metadata logic, image optimisation and the small API endpoints live in one clearly structured codebase.
- Instant page loads at the edge. On a global CDN (Cloudflare Workers through OpenNext), the site responds almost immediately, with a TTFB under 50ms, and does not depend on a traditional web server.
- Frontend separate from content management. Developers can build visuals and micro-interactions that follow Figma closely, without the limits of a traditional CMS template.
- Ready to grow into a web app. When a business needs a dashboard, a payment gateway or a link to internal APIs, the Next.js codebase can take it without restructuring the whole system.
Two headless CMS options
Every business has a different amount of content and a different way of working. Perxel focuses on the two headless CMS options that fit and run best with Next.js today:
Prismic
Prismic is a commercial headless CMS with a modern admin, designed as a page builder based on Slices. It lets the marketing team arrange content layouts without breaking the original design.
The free plan covers 1 editor account, 2 languages and 100GB of bandwidth a month. When you need more, the Starter plan at about $10 a month raises that to 3 editor accounts and 3 languages, which suits most company websites and standard landing pages.
TinaCMS
TinaCMS is an open-source headless CMS that works on a Git-backed model: content is stored in the project's own repository rather than in a separate database. As a result a website has no limit on the number of languages and no bandwidth-based fees. TinaCMS is known for click-to-edit directly on the page.
The free plan covers 2 editor accounts and unlimited languages. When the editing team grows, the Team plan at about $24 a month raises that to 3 editor accounts. For most websites run by one or two content owners, the free plan is enough.
Choosing by how the site will be run
From real projects, Perxel suggests an approach for each situation:
- Pick Prismic when you need a full-featured CMS. It suits most company websites and landing pages that need flexible content modelling, a clear publishing workflow or fewer than 3 languages.
- Pick TinaCMS when cost and click-to-edit matter most. It suits sites that need 3 or more languages or have high traffic and should not pay CDN bandwidth fees.
Projects already in production
Perxel's Next.js and headless CMS work comes from real products and case studies:
- Atlas Robotics (TinaCMS). A multilingual B2B marketing website (English, Vietnamese, Chinese) that handles large media files and runs smoothly on Cloudflare Workers at a server cost of $0 a month.
- Foldables (Prismic). Content modelling with the Prismic CLI, Slice Machine setup and instant content revalidation through webhooks on Cloudflare Workers.
- Growtrics (TinaCMS). A marketing website for an EdTech startup in Singapore, with TinaCMS built in and handed over in 3 working days. See Growtrics.
- Official certification. Perxel's lead engineer is a TinaCMS Certified Developer, certified by the TinaCMS team itself.
Next.js and WordPress compared
Both platforms serve marketing websites well. The cost gap between them is not large in practice, but each has its own architectural strengths:
- Next.js infrastructure advantage: static deployment on Cloudflare Workers' free plan keeps hosting cost low for small and mid-sized websites.
- Room to grow: Next.js is built on React, so it is more flexible when you need to go deeper later, such as your own API, a CRM link or a specific business system.
- When to choose which: choose Next.js if you plan to grow the website into a web app or need deep integration with third-party services. Choose WordPress when the site mainly serves information; Perxel's WordPress custom theme service offers a comparable editing experience and performance.
A technical partner for agencies and businesses
Perxel works as a technical partner with an eye for aesthetics, not as a passive code vendor.
The design intent from Figma, kept
Every interface block is turned into a proper React component that keeps the grid proportions and typographic rhythm of the design, and displays steadily across devices and browsers.
Full ownership of codebase and infrastructure
The whole codebase in a Git repository, the Cloudflare hosting account, the domain and related service accounts are all handed over. The website is fully independent, with no technical tie to Perxel.
Lower running cost over the long run
With static and edge rendering, the website needs no high-spec server or costly database. The business saves on monthly hosting and keeps page loads fast.
