WordPress Custom Theme Development

Boutique studio Perxel builds WordPress websites on custom themes written for each project, from company sites to WooCommerce online stores. Fast to load, easy to manage, with the whole codebase handed over.

Perxel builds WordPress websites on a custom theme written for each project, following your Figma design. WordPress is the most widely used content management system, according to W3Techs. The business owns the codebase and the data, and picks the hosting that fits.

Own your digital assets

  • You own your data. Closed SaaS platforms charge a recurring subscription and control the infrastructure. With WordPress the business owns the codebase and the database, and chooses a hosting provider that fits the real budget.
  • Room to grow. WordPress is an open ecosystem. Marketing tools, a CRM, online payments or internal systems plug in as the business grows.
  • Friendly to SEO. WordPress's natural page structure is well understood by search engines, which helps a business reach customers organically.

A custom theme, written from scratch

Perxel writes the theme from scratch for each website. It does not use ready-made themes from ThemeForest or other marketplaces.

A flexible drag-and-drop editor

The drag-and-drop editor lets a business reuse ready-made design blocks to build new pages without touching code. Perxel keeps the input fields simple, makes visual editing easy and removes complicated settings.

Performance on real devices

A custom theme leaves out the extra code that ready-made themes carry, so the site loads fast on mobile. PageSpeed results are tuned on real pages, which supports conversion.

Control of the whole codebase

Perxel controls the entire codebase and never uses pirated plugins. Together with an activity log for admin accounts, the business always knows what has been done in the system.

An easy admin experience

Perxel uses NectarBlocks, a drag-and-drop tool built on Gutenberg, to create the page editing area for clients. After handover the team can add pages, rearrange layouts or update content in a visual editor, without calling a developer for every small change.

Even though pages are assembled with a drag-and-drop tool, every detail of the Figma design is still coded by Perxel, with no ready-made templates. The result is easy to manage day to day and keeps the brand's own design identity.

Online stores with WooCommerce

Beyond company websites, Perxel builds custom themes for online stores on WooCommerce, the standard e-commerce plugin in the WordPress ecosystem. Category pages, product pages, the cart and checkout are all coded to the Figma design, not left on the default WooCommerce look.

The business manages products, stock, promotions and orders in its own admin, with no revenue-based subscription fees like SaaS e-commerce platforms.

Safety and security

The idea that WordPress is easy to attack is only part of the picture. WordPress core receives security patches regularly and quickly. Most real risk comes from installing too many free plugins of unknown origin, using pirated plugins or loose system settings.

Perxel handles this with two clear principles:

No plugins of unknown origin

Perxel only uses licensed premium tools that have been tested across many real projects: Gravity Forms for forms, WPML for multiple languages and NectarBlocks for block-based layouts on Gutenberg.

Security set up from operating experience

  • Control and traceability. An activity log records installs, content edits and admin login history, so administrators can trace what happened when a problem appears.
  • Blocking intrusion. The default login URL is changed, IPs that probe for passwords are blocked automatically (brute-force protection) and a firewall limits form spam.

A complete, simple handover

PDF guides are long and easy to lose. Perxel hands over in a more visual way:

  • A Website Guide inside the admin. Perxel builds a user guide page inside the admin dashboard. Admins can open it at any time to see screenshots, video walkthroughs of real tasks and quick links to each admin feature, with no document to dig up.
  • Full ownership handed over. When the project ends, hosting account details, the domain and any third-party service accounts are handed to the client. The website is fully independent, with no technical tie to Perxel, and can move to an in-house team or any other partner at any time.

Working alongside creative agencies and designers

Perxel works as a technical partner, not a passive outsourcer, and shares the designer's eye for aesthetics and design language.

Perxel does not make promises like "100% identical to the static design". Instead, it discusses the design with the designer from the Figma sketch stage and gives the technical feedback that is needed, to handle responsive edge cases and find the most natural responsive behaviour. Working closely with Perxel also gives designers practical insight they can reuse in the design system for their next products.

Lower cost over the long run

  • No recurring platform subscription. The business owns the system and pays nothing per page, per language or per editor, unlike no-code tools.
  • Light to run on standard hosting. A lean custom codebase runs smoothly on standard hosting plans, with no complicated server setup.
