Spotlight
A search box for your website, like Spotlight on a Mac. Visitors find any page as they type, ask a question and get an answer from your own content, or reach your contact form, all from one place.

Spotlight gives your website one box for everything a visitor came to do. They press ⌘K or the button in the header, and pages appear as they type. If they don't find what they need, they press Enter and an AI answers from your own content, then shows the pages it used. Ask Perxel on this site runs on Spotlight.
Why one box
Most websites have a chat bubble in one corner and a search box somewhere else, and visitors have to guess which one to use. Often they use neither and leave. With Spotlight there is one obvious place to start, on every page.
What your visitors get
- Pages as they type. Results show with every letter, and the typed words are highlighted so it's clear why each one matched. Vietnamese works typed with or without accents.
- Answers from your content, at any hour. The AI answers only from what your website says, and lists the pages behind each answer so visitors can read more.
- Your contact form, one word away. Typing "contact" opens the form directly. After a conversation, the AI can fill in the form from what the visitor asked. The visitor still decides whether to send it.
- The same experience on phones. A button in the bottom bar opens the box, and the results are sized for a thumb.
⌘K opens the box, and results show as the visitor types.
On a phone, the Ask Perxel button in the bottom bar opens the box.
What your business gets
- No slower website. Spotlight loads only when someone opens it, so your pages load as fast as before.
- Protection from abuse. Every question passes a bot check, each visitor can only ask so often, and a daily cap keeps AI costs in check.
- Visitors reach what they need faster. They don't have to work out your menu: they type what they want, and get the page or an answer.
Getting Spotlight on your website
We set up Spotlight for you: we choose what it searches, connect the AI to your content, design it to your brand and test it on desktop and phones. We can also run it for you. The AI and hosting accounts sit with us, and we keep an eye on usage and costs, so you have no extra accounts to manage. Spotlight is open source, so the code stays with your website. It also runs on phucbm.com. Developers can find it on GitHub.
